Sometimes trying to find just the right quote or passage from a book to solidify what is growing inside of us just doesn’t cut it. As the Psalmist often found a movement of nature to explain the growth of love in his heart, so also we have numerous ways to express our faith and the growth that takes place in our lives.
As a Christian, it would be naive of me to think that only Christians experience spiritual growth, love, and mercy in this life time. God spoke directly to Abraham, not in English I might add. Jesus spoke to Paul on the road to Damascus, but no one was there to confirm what Paul heard was actually Jesus. He simply knew..by faith. I also don’t want to be so arrogant as to think that God wasn’t speaking to Gandhi all along and just maybe some of what Gandhi said was a rebuke to us Christians to re-examine how we live out our Christianity. He liked Christ, but not those who called themselves Christians, because their way of life was not like Christ. I think we’d be ridiculous to think all Christians are fabulous people.
You see, people can walk by faith without dogma, religion, and controlling leaders. I know that’s not a popular thought, and yet Jesus knew it was true in his day as much as we know it is today. That’s not to say that there is no faith in gathering with others, participating in a religious ceremony, or even in memorizing meditations, for these can all be good things. What I am saying, however, is that human-kind is so unique, complex, gloriously intricate, and both predictable and unpredictable all at the same time…I guess you could say we are multi-faceted and that would make sense since the Divine is also multi-faceted. We take after that which artfully formed us in love.
Since we are organic creatures living on an organic planet, this growth that takes place in our lives is just as organic. The growth within and our increasing awareness in this life is sacred, magical, complex, and fascinating. It doesn’t do well to be boxed in and yet it flourishes when given it’s freedom.
This is how I begin to describe organic faith, but I’m not going to assume I have all the answers and descriptions to what that means. In fact, I’d like to know how you describe your organic faith. My dear friend, Hillary and I have had long emails back and forth about this organic faith and our hearts meld well together as full of hope that we can all learn from one another, share heartaches, and inspiration to this organic faith. Perhaps we can glean from one another, encourage one another, and introduce all our friends to a community of support.
You may find your spiritual journey to be inspired by the stars, wind, fire or by observing kittens frolicking in a basket of yarn. Maybe your spiritual adventure includes enlightenment from watching a movie that provokes you to lift compassion in your heart to a whole new level. It could be that your act of worship is simply baking a loaf of bread for an elderly widow. Whatever your journey contains, we’d like to know how your heart is enlarging to love others.
We have created this Organic Faith Tour for bloggers to share very specific types of articles about organic faith. There’s no need to submit your article to a different blog (although we might grow large enough to do this in the future).
We simply share a post from time to time on our own blogs, insert the button and link back to the Organic Faith Tour community on Facebook.
Then we can share the link via our several individual FB pages, Twitter, and link up a few of your favorites at the end of your blog post ex:
“More from the Organic Faith Tour:”
Then list a few and link to their blogs.
All we ask is that your blog be respectful, inspiring, and void of condemnation.
So lets get to know each other shall we? Hillary and I would love to connect with you. Does this Organic Faith Tour sound like something you’d like to participate in? Or perhaps you are more of a reader than a writer and would consider placing the button on your blog or telling your Facebook friends about the tour?
Which faith gets to participate? Anyone who believes they are on a journey of growth, love, grace, and mercy. If you are being guided by the Divine to live out your life with compassion for others, have a heart to share your personal inspiration of organic faith, then you are welcome. No one should be made to feel like they are all alone in their journey of faith. There’s no denomination or religious box to conform to here.
Here are a few inspiring and diverse articles to consider:

To Love Simply by Sisterlisa
Dancing Naked and Unmasked by Jeromy
Nature and Earth by Alison Leigh Lily
Dancing Liberated in the Wilderness by Julie

I love this idea of an Organic Faith Tour. I will definitely add the button to my blog and to several of my posts, if that’s all right with you and Hillary. I don’t suppose faith gets more organic than mine–seeded and sprouted in the fertilizer of addictive fundamentalism, watered and wandering through several non-christian expressions, rooted deeply in the mystical Ground of Grace and Love. Now seeking the Light, growing towards maturity, hopefully manifesting Fruit through my own DIY practices. Though I certainly don’t have any exclusive claim to organic faith! I love to meet others whose faith is so deep and broad it cannot be contained in a single box.
